It Came!
By Dan Boultwood

The aliens have landed and are looking to bring down Old Blighty. There is a robot running amok in the English countryside, shouting ‘Grurk!’ to all and sundry as it goes, and even a battalion of the best of British army chappies seems helpless to stop it. Vicars and assorted villagers are equally ineffectual.
Dan Boultwood’s endearing homage to British science fiction films of the 1950s and ‘60s (perhaps above all to The Day of the Triffids) is a wonderfully entertaining read. Jokes aplenty lie on every page, many arising from the xenophobic, sexist attitudes of our hero, a smug scientist and period cad named Dr. Boy Brett.
Happily, the greatest nation in the history of the world, although one suspects not yet reconciled to the loss of Empire, is saved. And happily, too, the good doctor gets his comeuppance at the end and is brought crashing down to earth.
Like all successful spoofs, Boultwood’s comic book is informed by a great knowledge and love of its source material. This one is so good it’s deserving of a street party.
